During the first 1000 years of Christian history, there was just one Church. Although in the eleventh century, there was a disastrous split between Orthodox East and Latin West.
This “Great Schism” of 1054 represented a separation between Rome and Orthodoxy. The Orthodox Church is the original Christian Church, founded by the Jesus Christ, is
described in the New Testament and the history can be traced in unbroken continuity all the way back to Jesus Christ and His Twelve Apostles. For over twenty centuries,
the church has continued in undiminished and unaltered faith and the apostolic doctrine, worship, and structure still remain intact. The Orthodox Church
maintains that the Church is the living Body of Jesus Christ.
